Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear Review

https://allthingsbooksweb.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/big-magic-book-review-non-fiction-all-things-books-blog-img_1416.jpg?w=663When I heard that Elizabeth Gilbert was releasing a book about creativity, it was without a doubt that I’d be hitting the nearest bookshop to purchase my copy. And I’m so glad I did, and here’s why.

Gilbert shares her wisdom and understanding of creativity, shattering the perceptions of mystery and suffering that surrounds the process – showing us all how easy it really can be to unleash our creative streak.

By sharing stories of her own life, as well as those from her friend, and the people that have inspired her, Gilbert challenges us to embrace our curiosity, listen to it, question it and tackle what we most love and face down what we most fear.

What really spoke to me was Gilberts acknowledgement of fear overriding our desires to step out and do the unknown. She explains the purpose of fear and how to manage it in a light hearted way that has stuck with me ever since reading the book.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who is interested in writing a book, creating art, coping with challenges at work, embarking on your long lost dream, or simply making your everyday life more reward. Big Magic will definitely take you on a journey of exploration, either way.

Big Magic was published by Bloomsbury in 2015.
